Using Cascading Order Header Information to Order Line in Oracle R12 – Part II

In last paper we explained the setups required for Using Cascading feature for Order Header Information to Order Line in Oracle in Oracle R12. In this paper we will see the transactional effect of the setup for Cascading Feature.
As we seen that for using the cascading feature in Order Management we need to complete following two setups

  1. Define Quick Codes
  2. Define Value for OM: Sales Order Form: Cascade Header Changes to Line profile options.
We can define following values for this profile option

    • Automatic: The system cascades the header attributes to lines whenever a header attribute is cascaded
    • Askme: The user is given a choice to cascade or not
    • Manual: The user must manually change the values for the attributes on the lines; the system doesn’t cascade the changes from header to lines.

Following screens will demonstrate the transactional effects for each value.
Please note that it is assumed that we have enabled Payment Term attribute in Quick Code.

Fig - 1

As we have not enabled Sales Person attribute, even though we make any change in the value for Sales Person in Order Header that will have any impact on the order line. We have to make necessary changes at line level for sales person. However if we make any change in Payment Term the system will work depending upon the value defined in the profile option.

A. We will set value for OM: Sales Order Form: Cascade Header Changes to Line = Automatic at user level.

a. Open Order in which we want to make changes

Fig - 4 make changes to order

b. We will change Sales person name at header level

Fig - 5 change sale person name

c. System will give you the Message after saving the order changes

Fig - 6 message

Here system will not cascade the changes on line as we have not enabled sales person attribute in Quick code. In this case if we want to change the sales person at line lever we need to manually change the same even though we have set the profile option as Automatic

However if we make changes in payment terms then system will automatically cascade the changes on Order Line

Fig - 8

System will cascade the changes on line directly

Fig - 10

B. We will set value for OM: Sales Order Form: Cascade Header Changes to Line = Askme at user level. In this case system will ask user for cascading the changes on Line. If user selects Yes then system will make those changes on Line.

C. We will set value for OM: Sales Order Form: Cascade Header Changes to Line = Mannual at user level. In this case system will not cascade the header changes to line. The user need to make the changes manually on line.
