SSHR stands for Self-Service Human resource. In Organizations this particular module helps in managing self service functions at both manager level as well as employee level. One basic advantage in using SSHR is it saves your time & money by giving the related functions access to employee for changing their Personal information for eg.: if an employee is married or he has changed his contact no or change in address or to check their pay stubs and many more he can change or check it, where the self-service functionality guides that particular process to the employee and also he can review it before he submits & saves the information which he is changing.
The technology supports self-service functions such as employee information changes, payroll updates, employment/job description and position role changes, life change updates, training management, organizational hierarchy changes, and organizational transactions completed by line manager.
The rapid and efficient deployment of the solution by Application allows us to provide faster access for employees. In turn, the HR department can improve their productivity and overall service by reducing administrative requirements.
Self-service HR allows employees to update their personal records and other areas of their work details themselves, taking the burden off the HR department.
Generally SSHR extensively uses workflow. In Self Service Oracle Human Resources there is a workflow named “HR”. The short code of this workflow is HRSSA. This workflow is initiated as soon as any business activity is initiated in Self Service HRMS. Steps within this Workflow process can be mapped to specific screens in OA Framework. Therefore the HR workflow guides which screen the user navigates through when making changes to data in self service HRMS. Now at this level you can also set an approval process to a particular workflow processes or transaction. Now let us know what an Approval process is: AME (Approval Management Engine) is Selfservice web application which enables users to define business rules as needed. AME enables business users to specify the approvals for application without coding.
In Self Service you have two different menu functions for accessing the same process i.e.., ESS and MSS menus. The ESS (Employee Self-Service) function allows users to perform actions on the person assigned to the logged in user. Whereas the MSS (Manager Self-Service) equivalent of the function allows managers to perform actions on people who are in their reporting hierarchy
The ESS function includes information about the workflow, AME and other process related details. The workflow controls the sequence of screen available in the process and AME (if enabled) manages the Approval logic for the function. In simple words if any approval process has been defined in a particular workflow processes then AME comes in picture wherein till the manger or the concerned person doesn’t approve that particular workflow will not move ahead.
The MSS function on itself only displays the Employee Hierarchy page. It is associated to an ESS function, which controls the underlying process flow and approval management. It only includes references to the ESS function that controls the process.
All properties of the functions are controlled by the parameter values defined in the function definition. You can control the process by changing the value of any of the parameters. Every parameter has a specific role and it’s very intuitive to guess the utility of the parameter.
You can exclude the functions which are not necessary to the employees in the responsibility window and attach the same to the user so that he would be able to do transactions at those functions level only.
